Newcastle youngster Adam Armstrong scored for England in the final of the Montaigu Tournament - but the Young Lions were beaten by Daniel Barlaser's Turkey on penalties.

Armstrong and Magpies Academy team-mate Kyle Cameron both started in Beauvoir sur Mer, western France, but it was Turkish teenager Barlaser who was on the winning side.

He played for 87 minutes. Cameron began at centre-back while Armstrong was on the right-wing and he netted for Kenny Swain's side as normal time ended 1-1.

Ten-man Turkey took the lead in extra-time but Demetri Mitchell levelled to force a shoot-out, which Turkey won 4-2.

Skilful winger Barlaser had started in Turkey's draw with Portugal and came from the bench in the win over Japan as they topped their group.

Cameron and Armstrong, meanwhile, had figured in all three group games as the Young Lions drew with Holland and Germany and beat Chile to reach the final.
